Looking for the perfect plastered, cement or concrete dining table + chairs to match? Or maybe you’re just looking for dining chairs for your plastered table already in your dining room with the “stone” look. Either way, you’re in the perfect spot because that’s what I’m showing you today!
Sourcing the perfect items for a dining room can take hours.
And by hours, I really mean
HOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS.
(Especially when it’s something unique and you want to use materials or put combinations together in a fresh new way, doing what no one has ever done before! Is this how to spell “STORY OF MY LIFE”?)
Every client has a different
- home structure
- personality
- needs
- wants
- other people in his/her life to consider.
Spoiler alert: you do too!😉
CONCRETE DINING TABLE
Tip #1: Take Your Time!
If you’re able to throw together—within a few hours of online shopping—what you think is a complete, satisfyingly-designed dining room (or any space!), then I hate to be the bearer of these tidings but…
…chances are high that you’ve done it wrong!
PS: When I say “wrong” I don’t mean a good vs evil battle. I’m saying “Chances are high that you’ll regret it later and wish you’d spent more time not missing Points 1, 2, and 3…” (but that’s a long sentence🤣).
And for me, that’s also “wrong” because I will end up with products and furniture I don’t like/can’t use/don’t nail all my goals for that room!
Good things take TIME.
Sure, there’s something to be said for the rare times you have to make quick decisions if your client has put you into a tight deadline, or let’s say your new dining room chairs haven’t shown up in time for that big event…(but I think we’d all still rather use our “old” chairs for the event and wait for the best chairs to come than rush into a “less than” decision)…
…because good furniture is expensive and yet people easily get tired of and replace faster when they haven’t thought it through.
Furniture should be an investment you’re making for years. Both for your own time, money, and those landfills I mentioned in this bathroom lighting post!
PLASTER DINING TABLE
“Why Do a Plastered or Concrete Dining Table?”
The above fast “Do-It-Yo’self Design” is the pickle my client found herself in when she thought she could choose her own dining room furniture alone.
(Oh, and some lighting to go above it. And maybe a rug. And some window treatments…she realized she’d have to figure that out too…the list kept growing…)
“This is NOT as easy as it looks!” she gasped to me after having tried to do it all herself.
At this point you might be asking, “Why did this individual want a plaster dining table?”
3 reasons…
- She did not want a wood table.
- The main view from the home’s entryway looks right at this dining room and into the marble-heavy kitchen, so she didn’t want a marble table either.
- She likes the look of stone but we didn’t want a stone that would clash with the marble behind it…
…and so a beautifully finished, plaster dining table became the frontrunner of her dreams. (I’ll show you the one she liked best below…but that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s exactly what we’ll be doing. 😉 )
She has great taste, BTW. I love the style we’re going for–not just the “look” and “feel” but what I sense as
the true taste of a room!
(You know those rooms that are so good you want to call them delicious?! Yes, that is a taste word.)
Sure, you can buy pre-made dining sets. But they often feel too matchy-matchy. (This is why the best online design shops and manufacturers sell chairs and dining tables separately.)
Take it step by step.
Creating a well-oiled (a.k.a. good flow) + beautifully-put-together room
is creating a work of art.
And a beautiful work of art moves many of us, both mentally and physically. Me, when I see something that was done really well, I get an explosion of energy + bursting-with-pleasure feeling in my chest when I see (or hear) a stunning piece of art by someone (especially residential design because I see it as 4-5-dimensional, which is much more complex and therefore difficult to attain! so I appreciate it when achieved!).
DINING TABLE DESIGN OPTIONS
Dining Table Design: Rectangular vs Round? 1-2 Pedestals vs Legs?
I could talk more about the importance of art for our culture and our daily lives and bringing true beauty to it, but I digress because YOU are here to gather info from my brain about plaster dining tables.🤓
We’ll see if we have time to get into which chairs to put with this table (because that’s another subject!), but for now let’s discuss the plaster dining table itself.
Let’s get right into this gal’s dining room…
concrete DINING TABLE DESIGNS
20+ Plaster Dining Tables in 3D!
Every dining room design has to start somewhere, and this woman’s is starting with her table. She saw a stone table she loved but wanted to customize it to be completely unique, which is also something we can design for her.
Here’s the (admittedly terrible) pic of a plastered/concrete dining table she found of the table she loved the texture of:
Now let’s look at four of our 20+ 3D renderings showing her different leg/base options she can do:
WHITE PLASTER DINING TABLE
#20: Rounded Double Pedestal!
This design is perfect for when you don’t want to run into legs on the four corners of your table, plus it also gives more support for an extra-large tabletop, which will be heavy.
CONCRETE DINING TABLE
#19: Rectangular Double Pedestal!
This one is similar to her inspiration photo but with the edges less rounded on the rectangular tabletop. This will maximize the space and also, in comparison to the one above, potentially fit more people in the center area.
TEXTURED CEMENT TABLE
#18: Blended Double Pedestal (With More Texture)!
This design
- Show a mix of the two above – not perfectly circular supports but not strictly rectangular either.
- Shows a more rustic/rough finish on the lower plastered pedestal legs.
ROUND PLASTER DINING TABLE
#17: Round Pedestal Plaster Dining Table!
Although she wanted something quite large and the final thickness choice/weight would dictate exactly how much support would be necessary, we did want to show her a single pedestal, round plaster dining table option:
DINING ROOM TABLES
#1-16: Single-Pedestal to Round Plaster Dining Table Ideas!
…lest you think these are the only 3 options, let me either break or win your heart…in the span of about 15 minutes, my brain came up with exactly 33 different versions, a glimpse of which I’ll show you in a gallery below of our 3D renderings…
…just click on the arrows to the left or right to scroll through and see for yourself!
Yes, these are all 100% custom renderings we designed! (Although I’ll share links below where you can buy Jess-approved pre-made plaster dining tables online.)
To the disinterested (or fast-scanning) eye, many of the plaster dining tables in our gallery above might look “the same” but are all different, some largely and some in detail.
Whether it’s different angles on the base or underside of the table, texture here or there, more or less texture here versus there, varied shapes and undulations and widths and angles…each is unique.
I share the above variety of examples to show you HOW MUCH FLEXIBILITY you have to design what’s perfect for your taste and your space!
(And every detail has an affect on your room, whether you’re aware of it or not. Some people will be more aware than others.)
When we go custom, it really is like creating our own piece of artwork together. What a thrill…especially because it’s useful artwork in more ways than just one!😍
PLASTER & CONCRETE DINING TABLES
The #1 Thing I Want You to Hear About Dining Tables!👇
The #1 thing I love about doing a custom table is
You can make not only the width + depth but the HEIGHT of your table exactly what you want.
Q: Why is this important?
A: Because all dining chairs are unique and yours may not land at the right height to feel appropriate and comfortable with the table you choose!
So unless you are custom-making your chairs to fit a pre-bought table, or you’re carefully testing and measuring and re-measuring your “mismatched” table and chairs…you’ll want to seriously consider a custom table.
Many dining rooms or eating spaces are odd shapes, or don’t allow for proper flow…it’s a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Sitting at a chair that feels too low/too high for the table, or backs into a wall, or I have to scoot it in/out for someone every time they want to get in/out or walk by…
All that can be avoided with proper planning.
CONCRETE TABLE DIY
If You’re Looking for a Plaster Dining Table DIY…
It’ll be messy :), kinda like pottery class, but you plaster a dining table much like you’d plaster a fireplace.
#1) SIZE: Make it perfect for your dining room!
#2) SHAPE: You can also get as creative as you’d like and play with different forms…
…the sky’s the limit and this is your chance to truly make a piece of art! Which–bonus!–serves a hugely important function (feeding you + your loved ones, literally growing brain connections when you eat with people…don’t get me started on how important a table is! 🙂 ).
#3) COLOR: You can always do a natural or white plaster dining table, or customize the perfect beige, griege, mocha, dark chocolate…whatever works best for your design (and with your chairs, which we’ll get to next).
Here’s a video (not produced by us unless you know a smart videographer in the LA area who wants to come do work for us 😉 but we’re still keeping things small for now–I wrote this post years ago about wanting to keep our business small, and it still rings true for our lifestyle + hearts today)

10 Plaster Dining Tables You Can (Actually) Buy Right Now!
People will always want me to point them in the direction of where they can purchase this (because let’s face it, most people don’t want to DIY their dining room table! 🙂 )…
…so I’ve spent time perusing the options and sharing the ones that caught my eye.
This section contains affiliate links and we may make a small commission should you choose to purchase one of these items, at no cost to you.
If you like the double pedestal look we’ve talked about above, here’s a beautiful creamy (a.k.a. not too bright white) option!
THIS! Where’s my heart-eyes emoji! That curved base is so unique…who wouldn’t appreciate this?
THESE are examples of the unique features you want to keep an eye on and look for so your house doesn’t look like everyone else’s…(although this is a major retailer, but if you’re doing your own design buying and not going through someone like us as a design company, it’s a great option because I can almost guarantee you that your neighbor has not got this table)!
If you need budget-friendly, this one’s one of the lowest-priced faux plaster round dining tables! (Plus the lines help give some interest, if you’re not into a smooth finish!)
…whereas if you’re looking for the highest quality real deal, this one is handmade by Philippe Colette:
I luuuuv a good oval dining table for so many reasons…let’s add that topic to my 872 new design post ideas!😂🤣
Speaking of black, the shape on THIS shape is deliciously refreshing!
Pssst! I JUST happened to search and find the same table above for nearly 50% off the other retailer HERE…but they only have 7 left in stock at the time I’m writing this! (If you see it go down to 6, that means I found a place to use it! 🙂 )
Speaking of deals, this gorgeous one BELOW is finally on sale! (Who doesn’t love it when they do that?!)
PS: For our European readers, there is this option that can be made to order in both size and color with limestone finish!
